Lot 1596:
Portugal Maritime Mail. Letter written in Rio Grande on 25 March 1858, unfranked, was received by the English post office in Rio de Janeiro, which marked it (? April), transported to Lisbon on the English packet, mark of the Lisbon Transatlantic packet of 8 May 1858, postage applied of 240 reis, to the care of the forwarding agent Martin, who went to collect it from the PO box, having paid 250 reis, and sent it to Cadiz.
