Lot 1618:
WW1 Military Mail. Mozambique. Postage-free postal stationery, printed on the back, for correspondence from German internees in Lourenço Marques. Written by POW nº269, from the 1st Prisoner of War depot in Lourenço Marques, on 12.10.1917, destined for Hamburg, where it was received on 8.2.1918. In Lourenço Marques, the postage exemption marks (franc de Port) were applied by the RED CROSS Delegation, it was censored in the depot, with a blue circular mark, and the mark of the Lourenço Marques Prisoner of War Service. It passed through Lisbon, where it was marked Commission portugaise des Prisonniers de Guerre/LISBONNE, from where it was sent to Germany, it was marked by the German Red Cross. Piece MR and MR, with two archival holes in the base.
