Guinea, 1921 – Postage stamp. Regular issue. Type 1904, value in centavos. MF POR 29/38. Complete series in fragments taken from an album with a stamp collection of an unidentifiable Portuguese Overseas Province Post Office, with the oblique violet “COLÓNIAS” overprint, used from 1912 onwards by the Ministry of Colonies to remove the power of circulation. At the time, the various Postal Administrations affiliated to the UPU were required to send around 700 series of each issue to be distributed to the various countries. Portugal, through the Ministry of Colonies, received in return 19 sets of its stamps to be distributed to the collections of the postal offices of the colonies. These sets were previously overprinted with COLONIES, thus preventing them from being used to frank correspondence. MB and MR.
